HVAC Warranties Protect Your Most Valuable Home-Comfort Investment

Many Greater Cincinnati homeowners see the purchase of HVAC warranties as a burden, when they are actually a great investment in your home-comfort systems. To get the most out of your heating and cooling equipment’s warranties, here are three things to consider.
Know the specifics
Is the contract for parts only, or is labor included? How long is the warranty valid? Talk with your representative to get the specifics. Your dealer can also help you decide if an optional extended warranty is right for you. Lastly, make sure you understand how to register your product. For instance, Trane’s Registered Limited Warranty terms apply if you register your equipment within 60 days of installation; otherwise Trane’s Base Limited Warranty terms will prevail.
Understand transfer options
With the purchase of a Registered Limited Warranty Transfer Option, your Trane climate-control systems can make your home easier to sell. It’s a shame to buy a five-year warranty only to find you have to move before it expires. But with a transferable warranty, you can pass the contract on as an added incentive for potential buyers. You can also upgrade to the transfer option up to 90 days following the sale of your home.
Do your part
Certain problems may occur with your systems that are due to lack of routine maintenance and these problems will likely not be covered. It is important that you do your part to follow the recommendations in the Owner’s Guide of your equipment. Having your heating and cooling systems professionally serviced annually will pay off. You should also sign up for Tri-County Heating & Cooling's reminder service; we'll send you an email when it's time to change your air filters.
No one likes to spend extra money, but HVAC warranties are a worthwhile investment in your home-comfort systems. Not only will you have the peace of mind that your system is covered, but the warranty may also add value to your home should you need to sell.
