Air cleaners

A whole-house air-filtration system is a great weapon to use in the war against summer allergies. These units, such as Trane's Clean Effects, clean and circulate the air, while removing up to 99.9 percent of airborne particles, such as dander, pollen and mold – all known allergens.

Air conditioner filter

Not all filters are created equal. Pay attention to the Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) number of your filter, and consider upgrading it if you suffer from summer allergies. Filters get MERV ratings from 1 to 16, so be sure to choose a filter that can strike the proper balance between filtration and airflow. Experts recommend a rating of between 5 and 8 for most homes. HEPA filtration system

A High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) system, can work in conjunction with your existing HVAC system to provide you with cleaner air. The supply air drawn in to the ductwork and passed through your A/C is further cleaned by the HEPA system before being blown out as conditioned air.  Depending on the MERV rating (somewhere between 17 and 20 on a scale of 1 to 20), it can remove up to 99 percent of airborne particles.
