choosing an hvac contractor, Cincinnati, OhioChoosing an HVAC contractor in Greater Cincinnati does not have to be a matter of blind luck. You want the best for your home and your family, and you can have the best -- by choosing an HVAC contractor that is a certified expert in the field.

There are several things you can look for to determine whether an HVAC contractor makes the grade:

  • ACCA membership. The ACCA, or Air Conditioning Contractors of America, is the professional association for HVAC contractors. The ACCA helps its members stay current on the latest HVAC technologies and best practices. ACCA membership shows that the contractor is committed to the industry, and committed to being the best at what they do.
  • NATE certification. NATE, or North American Technician Excellence, is the professional certification standard for HVAC technicians. To become NATE-certified, technicians have to pass an exam demonstrating extensive working knowledge of HVAC installation, diagnosis and repair. And to keep their NATE certification, they must either pass a new test every five years or take 60 hours of continuing education classes.
  • BBB accreditation. The BBB, or Better Business Bureau, checks a company's background, licensing and consumer complaints to determine if a company is both legal and trustworthy. The company is then given a letter grade, similar to what students earn in school.
  • Awards and recognition. The best contractors may win awards or receive special recognition from industry organizations, such as the ACCA.
  • Experience. Choosing an HVAC contractor with a long history of service is always a good idea, as it will likely not be the first time that they have tackled your particular heating or cooling problem.
  • Custom solutions. A truly professional contractor will be able and willing to design a custom system for your home. Such innovative solutions ensure that you receive the best comfort and best energy efficiency possible.

When choosing an HVAC contractor, choose the best. In Butler County and the Greater Cincinnati area, Tri-County Heating & Cooling has over 40 years of experience providing superior service, and is one of only six contractors to be honored in the Carrier Hall of Fame.
