With a focus on technology to help improve the HVAC industry, Greg Leisgang has been a leader that has helped “raise the bar” on business processes and services to the betterment of all HVAC dealerships and customers nationwide. His commitment to keep up with the latest information and incorporate the most advanced tools — and his willingness to share it all with others — has earned him recognition and the utmost respect from his peers.
JonLe Heating – Cooling was founded by Greg’s father, John Leisgang, and initially concentrated on the installation of lower-end brand HVAC products in the higher volume Residential New Construction (RNC) market. John felt that the name John Leisgang Heating & Cooling was too long to place on the company trucks and signs, so he named the company JonLe Heating – Cooling.
Greg grew up in the HVAC business working for his father. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1975, and after graduation began working fulltime in the family business. He slowly helped turn JonLe from a 100% RNC company to a 50% RNC / 50% Add-On Replacement (AOR) company with a strong sales emphasis on higher-end product offerings. This is when JonLe became associated with HVAC products by Carrier. Greg was also instrumental with growing the service end of the business, as well as streamlining processes and operations.
In 1987, Greg became president of the company. Since that time, JonLe Heating – Cooling has won numerous awards, including ACCA Quality Contractor of the Year in 1993 and the coveted Carrier Distinguished Dealer Award in 1996. One of the key reasons for these awards was Greg’s pioneering use of computers throughout the company. This included everything from dispatching trucks for quicker service response times, to inventorying all products and parts down to the smallest pipe nipple.
Greg has been very active in the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA). He was president of the local Cincinnati chapter in 1990, has served on numerous ACCA task teams, and has been on the National Board of Directors since 1998. He’s held a position on the executive committee since 2000 and was elected the ACCA National 2004-2005 Senior Vice Chairman. He then assumed the top elected position in March of 2005 and currently resides on the board as Past ACCA National Chairman.
Through the years, Greg has been highly involved in many Carrier Corp. leadership roles. He was part of the original Carrier Dealer Advisory Group and has participated on a number of Carrier Product Partners in Development (PID) groups. He has been very influential while working with all past Carrier Corp. presidents since 1987, and has developed close personal relationships with them all.
Greg is highly involved with many charitable organizations in the Greater Cincinnati Area and is an avid supporter of his beloved University of Cincinnati Bearcats and Elder High School Purple Panthers. He may be considered a “gadget-head” to some, and is known to enjoy a competitive round of golf, but it’s his dedication to his wife, love for his “girls” and family, and commitment to the HVAC industry as a whole that set him apart. Greg is the type of dealer – and person – Carrier is proud to showcase with this Dealer Hall of Fame induction.
